I have to agree with the family on the treatment of people who serve our country. I worked in a local Dr's office that was capable to treat people with this disorder and they didn't accept military health plans. How messed up is that. Then the office we did tell them to call was booked for months. I think something needs done with the government and the heath care system. How can you go away and fight for our country then when you come back and need help you are told sorry we don't accept your insurance. The government needs to look at the big picture.

First I want to start by saying sorry to all the families involved. Second I want to thank everyone who is working on this problem. Nick is not the only one nor the last one to go through this. We as a country need to step up and make people listen, we need to band together and make this our fight. I was talking to a vet and he told me "good luck but no one has won this battle yet and you won't either." He had no support for other vets. He also said "no one helped me when i came home." This man will be what we run into. My reply to him was "that is wrong. and you should have had any and everything you needed when you got home!" We need to not let this deter us. This is our war to fight now. Be strong and make your voices heard.
Thank you all. Love ya.

There are soldiers who actually go AWOL to get the help and health care they need because the army won't help them. Then when they come back, they get either a dishonorable discharge or jail time.. for what the army SHOULD have done to begin with. its sad. and I agree. The government needs to look at the big picture. Sure, there are options, but how is a soldier supposed to pay out of pocket? Why should they? Something needs done to help these soldiers. What we need is for all Americans to help our voices be heard, because they're obviously not listening to the soldiers.

PTSD and Flashbacks are something our government needs to address! I knew a WWII vet that would turn out the lights and sit quietly in a chair when there was a thunderstorm. Combat vets have a tough row to hoe when they come home! They all need our support. Nick is just one of many time bombs out there! I have no doubt he was not in his right mind when these events transpired. The noise at the bowling alley may have been the trigger that put him in combat mode. This is truly a tragedy for ALL the families involved! Life that is cut short always is!

My ex-husband served in Viet Nam, was injured and is now on 100% disability due to his emotional breakdowns over many years. He physically and emotionally abused me. He is married for the 5th time and his last 3 children were given up for adoption. PTSD exists, believe me! Picture yourself in a war and having to do what these fine men are doing to protect our country. Would you be the same person when you returned as you were when you left?
